THE NORTH-WEST FRONTIER PROVINCE LOCAL GOVERNMENT(AMENDMENT) ACT, 1987.

AN ACT
further to amend the North-West Frontier Province Local Government Ordinance, 1979.


WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the North-West Frontier Province Local Government Ordinance, 1979 for the purpose hereinafter appearing;

Preamble

It is hereby enacted as follows:—


1.         (1) This Act may be called the North-West Frontier Province Local Government (Amendment) Act, 1987.

Short title and commencement

 (2) It shall come into force immediately after the notification of the results of the third elections to the Local Councils.


2.         In the North-West Frontier Province Local Government Ordinance, 1979 (N.-W. F. P. Ord. No. IV of 1979), in section 31, in sub-section (2), in the proviso, for the full stop at the end a colon shall be substituted and thereafter the following further proviso shall be added, namely:—

"provided further that a member holding any whole time office in the Federal or the Provincial Government, whether with salary or without salary, whether voluntarily or on election, shall be disqualified to be chosen as Chairman, and if such a person has already been chosen earlier shall stand disqualified to continue to hold the office of Chairman.
