THE PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY OF THE NORTH-WEST FRONTIER PROVINCE (SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES OF MEMBERS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1996.

ANACTfurther to amend the Provincial Assembly of the North-West Frontier Province (Salaries and Allowances of Members) Act, 1974.
Preamble.---WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Provincial Assembly of the North-West Frontier Province (Salaries and Allowances of Members) Act, 1974 (N.W.F.P. Act No. XI of 1974), for the purpose hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted as follows:
1. Short title and commencement.---(1) This Act may be called the Provincial Assembly of the North-West Frontier Province (Salaries and Allowances of Members) (Amendment) Act, 1996.
(2) It shall come into force at once and shall be deemed to have taken effect from 19th December, 1995.
2. Amendment of section 3A of NWFP Act No. XI of 1974.---In the Provincial Assembly of the North-West Frontier Province (Salaries and Allowances of Members) Act, 1974 (N.W.F.P. Act No. XI of 1974), in section 3A,---
(a) in sub-section (2), the full-stop appearing at the end of clause (h) shall be replaced by a semi-colon and thereafter the following new clauses shall be inserted, namely:
“(i) the use of an official car maintained at Government expense;
(j) the use of an official residence, without payment of rent through out his term of office and for a period of fifteen days immediately thereafter, or if he chooses to reside in his own house, a sum of sexteen thousand rupees per month in lieu of a furnished official accommodation.”;
(b) after sub-section (2), as so amended, the following new sub-sections shall be added, namely;
“(3) If, at the time of entering upon office, an official residence is not available, the Leader of the Opposition shall, until such residence is provided by Government, by paid actual expenses incurred by him on hiring a furnished accommodation for himself and his family, subject to a maximum of sixteen thousand rupees per mensem.
(4) The official residence of the Leader of the Opposition shall, subject to such conditions as may be imposed by Government from time to time, be maintained by Government and shall be furnished at a cost not exceeding one lac rupees.”.
